Gospel Rock "Forever Lost" video

Sometime during the 15 years of supporting activities to save Gospel Rock,  Loretta Macklam decided that Gospel Rock needed a song. In 2007 she asked Lowry Olafson to help with the songwriting, and the result is their co-written song "Forever Lost". SCRD Receives $55,000 Grant for Sustainability Plan

The SCRD has received a grant of $55,000 from the Green Municipal Fund (a partnership of the Federal Government and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities). According to the GMF press release “the fund supports the development of the communities that are more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable”.

Sierra Club BC and ForestEthics Join in Opposition to HSSP Sale

ForestEthics, Greenpeace, Sierra Club B.C. and Canopy are alarmed by Canfor Forest Products’ decision to sell its Howe Sound Pulp and Paper operation to Paper Excellence BV, the Netherlands-based unit of Indonesia’s Sinar Mas Group. In a letter to Canfor, the environmental organizations are urging the company to not sell Howe Sound Pulp and Paper to Paper Excellence, but instead explore alternative ownership scenarios.

FGRS and the SCCA endorse high-density housing strategy for Gospel Rock

In a letter to Council and the GR Refinement Working Committee on July 27th the Friends of Gospel Rock Society (FGRS) and the SC Conservation Association give their support to "use of high density housing as an appropriate land use for the up-land portions of the planning areas if this results in the conservation of natural areas and a more sustainable future for the Town and it’s citizens and neighbors." 3000 Names on Petition to Stop Davis Bay Road Exansion

A Citizen's petition to stop road expansion at Davis Bay currently claims 3000 plus signatures.  Doug Reid of the informal group which has been collecting signatures on the seawalk has delivered the petition to the District of Sechelt Office, and a copy to the Area Manager of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) August 16th.
