News
With the sun shining and the temperatures finally warming up, it's a great time to get out to the beaches, go for a hike and get things planted in the garden. Gardening can be a lot of work, but it should be fun too.
What's in season?
Along with longer days and the peacefulness of bird songs, the soil temperature is slowly warming up and allowing for planting directly into the ground. It's now a good time to direct sow kale, arugula, broad beans, cabbage, radishes, peas, mustard, pac choi and edible flowers. It is still too cool for direct sowing some things you want to grow? Try starting some seeds indoors and get a head start.

3) Movie: Urban Roots
Seeking folks in the Pender Harbour area (or those who don't mind travelling 'way up there'!) who would like to come and vend plants, seeds, produce or other locally produced food wares at our showing of the film "Urban Roots" on Saturday, April 6th at 2 pm at the Iris Griffith Centre.
We're organizing this film showing as a collaboration between Green Films (presented by Sustainable Coast) and the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society / iris Griffith Centre. We'll have a rep from One Straw and the Live and Learn program, and we're hoping to have a few farmers or backyard growers out to share in the discussion as well as hopefully make a few sales that will help folks get jazzed about local food - growing or consuming :)
