2010 Coupon Clean Up

The annual SCRD clean up event for the south coast will take place the week of August 9 to the 15. Residents will be able to use their SCRD coupons to drop off recycled items at Gibsons Recycling Depot.  These coupons were sent to residents of Areas F, E and D in their utility bills. The coupon is good for one truck load of materials. You should have your coupon filled out and signed before you unload. Oversized loads and prohibited materials will be charged extra fees.

Drop off at the Gibsons Recycling Depot at 1018 Venture Way in Gibsons, August 9 to 15 from 8 am to 4:30.

Materials List

NOTE: ALL MATERIALS MUST BE PROPERLY SEPARATED ACCORDING TO TYPE OF MATERIAL

Metal mostly metal

  • NO Freon / NO oil (for recycling)
  • Appliances (stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers)
  • Scrap Metal (lawn furniture, bed frames, pipes, misc metal)
  • NO Fridges & Freezers or items with Freon; Vehicles, Engines, Gas Tanks, etc; Oil Tanks;
  • Pressurized Tanks – ie. propane, oxygen, CO2, helium, hydrogen, mixed gas
Extend Producer Responsibility Program Material (EPR) (for recycling)
  • Tires (small car tires without rims)
  • Paint (used residential paint in original container)
  • Lead Acid Car Batteries
  • Electronics (used computers & TVs)
  • Batteries (rechargeable & single)
  • Fluorescent Lights (tubes & compact)
  • NO Special/Hazardous Waste (chemicals; explosive substances; flammables; pesticides,
  • herbicides; gas, oil, anti-freeze; unidentifiable products)
Styrofoam (for recycling)
  • Meat Trays, Egg Cartons (must be clean & bagged)
  • NO tape or stickers on the Styrofoam
Construction/Demolition Materials
  • Wood (dimension lumber)
  • Duroid Roofing (asphalt shingles)
  • Insulation
  • NO Gypsum, Drywall; Concrete, Asphalt; Construction/Demolition Waste except items listed above
General Garbage (for the landfill)
  • Misc Stuff (stuffed chairs, sofas, mattresses, etc)
  • NO Kitchen or Organic Waste
  • NO Ashes or Material Hot Enough to Cause a Fire
  • NO Fish Nets
  • NO Yard Waste
  • NO Land Clearing Debris (logs, brush, stumps, rocks, dirt)
  • NO Items Longer than 12 feet OR Larger than 8 cubic feet in volume
  • NO Special/Hazardous Waste (chemicals; explosive substances;flammables; pesticides, herbicides; gas, oil, anti-freeze; unidentifiable products
