What A Difference Six Years Makes

The Paris climate talks began today following a weekend where a record-breaking 785,000 people in 175 countries marched in support of strong climate action. In addition almost 1.8 million people of faith signed a petition for compassionate climate action.With nearly 150 Heads of State on hand the COP 21 negotiations began Monday. Hopes are high there will be a strong, new global agreement to tackle climate change.

It is patently obvious that this council and you our mayor, only represent one side of the community.  Those with a different idea – a bigger idea, a self sustaining idea, an idea that would make us the envy of all, have been told to be quiet, and not always that nicely.  While we were speaking we could watch your complete disinterest and dismissal.

Transition Streets: How Small Steps Can Become Massive Change

Two small groups in Langdale and Gibsons put that statement to the test during a recent neighbourhood initiative called Transition Streets. Designed by Transition Town Totnes, UK, the local program was launched in these two locations as a pilot project by Sunshine Coast in Transition [SCiT] and the Earth Stewardship Pilot Project.

The Natural Connections Science Engagement Program delivered by the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society, enables youth on BC’s Sunshine Coast to learn through hands-on exploration led by local scientists and naturalists in the forest, wetland, freshwater and marine ecosystems of the region.
