Study shows inaction on poverty in BC costs us $4 billion a year
A new study from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives calculates the healthcare, justice and productivity costs of poverty in BC. Just doing the math, the conclusion is that a smart poverty reduction plan can cut that cost in half. WATCH THE VIDEO.

The Sunshine Coast Conservation Association, whose mandate is to protect bio-diversity in the greater Sunshine Coast region, established the prestigious John Hind-Smith award in 2006 to honour a worthy local citizen who has exemplified the spirit of John Hind-Smith by their dedication and commitment to the environment and preserving wildlife. This year’s John Hind-Smith Environmental Achievement Award goes to Rick O’Neill.

Around 400 people came to the Gospel Rock Draft Neighbourhood Plan meeting held on April 6 at Elphinstone Secondary School. After an hour and a half presentation by Gibson consultant Michael Rosen, they left disappointed and some say, insulted.
