Opposition grows to Vancouver's garbage burning plans
The Board of Directors of the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) voted on Metro Vancouver's Draft Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan (ISWMRP) at its regular Board meeting June 23. The Board unanimously agreed that it does not support WTE incineration as a viable option for handling residual municipal solid waste.

The workshop held in Pender Harbour on May 30 was well attended by around 50 community members, SCRD representatives and committee members. The information presented centered on designing a resource recovery park for the Sunshine Coast.
Gospel rock revised development plan to be unveiled
On June 28th the Gospel Rock Refinement Working Committee will present their "refined" development plan for public input at a public meeting, after a year of reviewing the development options of the original plan. Gibsons citizens rallied in Lower Gibsons on Sunday, June 27 in opposition to Gospel Rock waterfront development.

May 29 - Gibsons workshop. SuCESS and a number of local businesses sponsored a two-day workshop on Zero Waste on the Sunshine Coast on May 29 and 30. A number of well-known environmental advocates spoke at the workshops and brought valuable information to the community.

The Zero Waste workshops of May 29 & 30 with Richard Anthony, participants passed a motion for local government, "Zero Waste Action". SuCESS technical advisor Loys Maingon created a Discussion Paper from the workshop presentations, "Market-based Zero Waste Strategic Plan".
