(Feb 19, 2015) Premier Christy Clark and Deputy Premier Rich Coleman today welcomed Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s action to enhance the competitiveness of B.C.’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry through a new tax relief. “This is great news for the creation of LNG jobs in British Columbia, and great news for Canada,” said Premier Christy Clark. “We have been working with the federal government and industry for some time to achieve this outcome, and I am pleased they have delivered today.

The Coast Wildlife Project recently announced a new program which will give ten landowners an opportunity to improve their shoreline habitat. Native shoreline vegetation can help beautify property, improve habitat for diverse wildlife species, prevent erosion, improve water quality and maintain the health of aquatic ecosystems.

What are the possibilities when a community comes together to make change for the better? In the film Return of the River, First Nations, environmentalists, government, industry and community members work together to set a river free and bring hope for the future. Return of the River opens the spring season of the Green Film Series on Monday, February 2 at the Gibsons Heritage Playhouse with a second showing on Thursday, February 5 in Sechelt at the Sunshine Coast Arts Centre, both showings at 7:30 pm. The Wood Duck Bus is scheduled to bring people from Madeira Park to the Sechelt screening.

“I am so thankful to my colleagues in the Senate, especially the bill’s sponsor Senator Janis Johnson, for passing C-442,” said Elizabeth May, Leader of the Green Party of Canada and MP for Saanich-Gulf Islands. “This victory belongs to all Canadians coping with Lyme disease and their loved ones. Tis the Season
As the air gets crisper and the chill sets in, it feels like the perfect time to cozy in with family and friends and get ready to celebrate with some festive cheer.
We would like to thank everyone who came out to the Gibsons Public Library on November 19th for the screening of the Chocolate Farmer. it was a great night filled with thoughful discussion and some yummy chocolate too!
